Official opening of the first 100% solar powered CELLUX cold store in Africa
On October 9th and 10th, 2020, a total of more than 250 farmers, heads of agricultural cooperatives, representatives of governmental and non-governmental organizations, political leaders from Yatta and surrounding counties, fruit and vegetable exporters, and general managers of fruit and vegetable processing companies attended the official opening of the first cooling chamber in Kithimani / Yatta powered exclusively by solar energy. The pilot plant can safely store up to 5 tons of fresh produce at 6°C. With the pilot plant, the German manufacturer suncooling GmbH / KRAMER GmbH wants to show how easy and maintenance-free the daily use of the CELLUX cooling chamber is in a region close to the equator. Since it was switched on on 7.10.2020, the system has been running smoothly and is already being shared by neighbouring farms.
